How To Make Glow In The Dark Halloween Drinks

Growing up I used to love watching The Addams Family.  To this day Morticia and Gomez Addams represent to me the perfect couple and Wednesday the most dry comedienne!  But one of my favourite characters was Uncle Fester.

Look at him – isn’t he ace?!

The moment I saw these light bulb shaped glasses, I knew what my Halloween tipple would be and I knew that it’d have to glow in the dark!  I’m hardly reinventing the wheel – I’ll be drinking a classic gin and tonic.  But in the dark with an inexpensive black-light, it’ll seem like a treat worthy of the biggest Addams Family bash.

You will need

Decent gin

Tonic – not slimline

Unwaxed lime

Blacklight

Method

  • The perfect gin and tonic needs to be cold.  Normally you’d fill your glass with ice, preferably made with tonic so as not to water down the drink too much!  I couldn’t do that with these glasses, so I just made sure that both the gin and tonic were ice cold.
  • The right ratio of gin to tonic is between 1:1 and 1:3 depending on your taste.  I like about twice as much tonic as gin.
  • Pour your gin and top with tonic.
  • Add the juice of half a lime and garnish with a little zest.
