It’s no secret that I love Christmas and as you can probably imagine, we have a lot of Christmas themed stuff at home. Mugs are a particular weak spot.
To hide those pieces away would be silly, so I’m always looking for new ways to display them. That’s how my Christmas hot chocolate station (or hot cocoa bar) came to be. I wanted to have my prettiest mugs out on display and I needed a use for some of the older ones that were past their best but still too lovely to part with.
The first year I used a two tiered vintage cake/fruit stand but you could use shelves, a tray or anything else you can get your hands on. I used chipped mugs to hold tea spoons or candy canes and I collected together lovely treats for topping hot drinks.
Christmas 2021 saw me upcycle an old wooden cupboard to create a hot chocolate station on a much larger scale, probably never to be repeated! But however big or small you want to go with this idea, the premise remains the same.
Collect together your favourite mugs, some chocolate stars, gingerbread, malted chocolate balls, candy canes, syrup, marshmallows, sprinkles and a variety of spices. Finish off with a few vintage Christmas ornaments and you have a really pretty display and readily available festive treats.
This year, feeling much more sensible than usual, I positioned my hot cocoa bar near the kettle! I made use of this incredibly handly display/serving shelf amd filled it with goodies as usual.
Love Rachel ❤️
