Christmas Movie Advent Calendar

I’ve got a festive money saving tip for you!

Over the last few years it’s become more and more popular to have an alternative Advent calendar – something that isn’t chocolate and helps to spread the excitement a little bit. But it can be expensive!

I’ve seen many a pile of 24 books or DVDs wrapped up as an Advent calendar and more often than not, they’re all Christmas themed. I often wonder how well loved (or not) those Christmas gifts are after the festive season is over. And after a couple of years, surely you end up with more Christmas themed ‘stuff’ than you know what to do with.

The solution – just wrap up the Christmas movies you already have 😂. I might buy a new one each year to keep things fresh but generally speaking I just wrap up our existing Christmas movie collection. For younger children, the excitement is in the unwrapping anyway and older children still get the surprise of not knowing which film they’re going to watch. You can even wrap them up in January when you put the decorations away – that way even YOU don’t know which is which!
