Mermaid Milkshake Recipe

Did you ever make something that tasted so incredible that you were a little bit too pleased with yourself?  I did when I created Mermaid Milkshake and I only got a sip of it as Dorothy claimed the rest as her own.

No matter – Mermaid Milkshake doesn’t just look and taste amazing, it’s good for you too!

You’ll probably have most of the ingredients already, but spirulina, which gives the milkshake it’s gorgeous colour, might be a special purchase.  It’s a blue-green powder made from algae.  I know, I know – it sounds vile and as a general rule if your milk turns green, it’s not fit for consumption!  But as it’s chock full of nutrients and turns food a magical colour, surely it’s worth a go right?

If you do decide against spirulina, then this milkshake, will still be delicious without.

You Will Need

1 glass of milk (whatever kind you prefer.  I use semi-skimmed cow’s milk)

1 teaspoon of coconut oil

1 teaspoon of rose water

1 teaspoon honey

1 very ripe banana

A pinch of ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon spirulina

Method

  • Blend together all the ingredients except the milk
  • Add the milk and blend again until fully combined and frothy
  • Serve immediately with an edible flower garnish

This recipe creates one large glass of the yummiest, mermaidiest milkshake.

Love Rachel ❤️
