I’ve had this idea in my head for a while now. I kept buying all the stuff to make it but using (eating) up all the sweets before I had chance!
Then on Christmas Eve I thought why not set it up as an activity.
You will need *for six trees
Ice cream cones
60g margerine
125g icing sugar
Drop of vanilla extract
Green food colouring paste
Selection of small sweets and sprinkles
Method
- Whisk the margerine until the colour pales
- Add the icing sugar and whisk until smooth and pale – about 2 minutes
- Add the vanilla and a little food colouring and whisk again
- Smooth buttercream on to the cones and decorate with sweets and sprinkles
- If you can’t find small enough sweets, you can always cut up larger ones like I’ve done with these

It was just a little activity to keep them busy but I actually think they’d make a lovely addition to a Christmas buffet table.
