In a couple of weeks we’ll be going to Timber Festival for the first time. I am so excited!
In anticipation, I’m working on some fabulous festival accessories and since Dorothy and I collected an abundance of leaves on our nature walk, I started with a rather majestic tree fairy crown.
Of course, being forged of the forest itself, the crown won’t last forever, but it’ll hold on for at least a week if you choose the right leaves and the right glue.
Incidentally the ‘right leaves’ are a mixture of very large ivy and laurel and the right glue is PVA. I tried other leaves and other glues and the results were a bit grim.
If you’d like to make your own natural, unique festival crown…
You will need
A handful of of large ivy leaves and a few laurel leaves.
PVA glue
Laundry pegs
Method
- Cut the Ivy leaves into squares. The size will depend on the
- Cut the laurel leaves in half.
- Fold two of the squares in half corner to corner.
- Stick the squares together, slightly overlapping.
- Lay a laurel leaf in the middle and fold the squares back in lad. Secure with a couple of laundry pegs.
- Add more squares in the same way, each time laying a laurel leaf in-between.
- Once your crown is long enough, join the two ends and allow to dry over night.
Beth already wants one! I think I might have to make one for me too.
